I’ve ridden a mountain bike on and off since the early eighties but only began riding competitively five years ago; I blame Ticket2rideBC for it.
Having been away from the sport for some years, I bought a new-fangled full-susser in 2004 and got stuck into the “scary” trials at places like Coed y Brenin – I’ll even admit to walking some sections back then. One thing led to another and a week in the Alps led to a fortnight with Ticket2rideBC in Whistler. It was amazing and I came back having learned and done things I would have never imagined possible!
I’ve made four pilgrimages to the Ticket2rideBC lodge over the last few years and come back a better rider each time. I’ve competed for three full seasons of downhill, mainly in my homeland of Wales and have so far risen to the dizzy heights of mid-table obscurity in the Masters category. But with every race I brake a little less…
I’m now a Veteran and hope that a few more of the fast boys will have retired their broken bodies to give the “late starters” a chance. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks?!
