Bike Park Tour Featured in MBUK Feb 2010 Issue

11 February, 2010

In September 2009 Ticket2RideBC ran it’s first BC Bike Park Tour, taking in Mount Washington Bike Park, Silver Star Bike Park, Sun Peaks Bike Park and of course Whistler Bike Park. On this first tour we were joined by Calum Jelly who wrote a seven page feature for MBUK on what was an awesome tour. In 2010 we are repeating this tour on four occasions in July and August, so why not read the feature entitled ‘The Greatest Ride on Earth’, and then book yourself on the tour for this season? Team Building in the cold

09 December, 2008

The last weekend in November saw the Ticket2RideBC’s first riding weekend in the UK, where our two race teams, the 2008 Whistler team of guides and a selection of guide applicants for 2009 met up in the UK for two days of riding and socialising.

We selected Church Stretton as the location for this event as it is centrally located, allowing reasonable travel times for most of the team, as well as being right next to the Long Mynd all mountain trails and the Bringewood downhill trails.

For the event we were also kindly lent the full demo range of Commencal’s 09 bikes for the team to try out over the weekend by the guys at Madison.

Friday night saw the team arriving at the bunk house we had rented right at the base of the Long Mynd, before we all went for a few beers and a meal at the local Chinese.

Saturday morning saw an extremely cold start with freezing fog as we travelled the short distance to Bringewood for the uplift service Pierce Cycles. Despite the cold weather, it was a dry day, which had moments of sunlight. The uplift service allowed us to get in a good number of runs before the daylight failed and we headed to Pierce Cycles to use their jet washing facilities.

The evening was spent hanging out at the bunkhouse, telling stories and eating an excellent spag-bowl that was rustled up by Nick and Clair, and washed down with a good number of beers.

Sunday the group headed out on another very cold morning for an 18 mile cross country all mountain loop op and over the Mynd, and then around the edge and back over the top back to the lodge. Again it was a dry day with moments of sun, ideal for a great days riding.

Thanks to all that attended and made it such a good weekend.
